Day 2 Results

Can you believe we’ve already seen half of the Final 30 plays this week? Time is flying!

Last night we had three new judges, and two of them were OOB Alumni! Miriam Weiner, the current Literary Manager at the Vineyard, and playwright Eleanor Burgess worked together to put on Burgess’ short play Park Slope Minstrel Show in the OOB festival back in 2015. Though the play was not selected to be part of that year’s collection, two of Burgess full length plays are currently published by Samuel French – The Niceties and Start Down. (I’m sensing a theme this week.) Also judging last night was Theatre Now New York’s producing director Chris Giordano. They watched eight short plays last night and were tasked with only choosing a few to advance to the Saturday finals.

For the first session we were graced with four shows: End of the Line by Howard Ho, Chris Edgar, and Kristen ReaOn A String by LyaNisha R. GonzalezMaybe by Nicholas Vasilios Pappas, and The War Show by Lindsey Griffith. The second session brought four more incredible plays: The Dark by Serena BermanPartner Of by Rachael CarnesWinner by Amy Berryman, and I Love You St. Petersburg by Bixby Elliot

After considerable thought and consideration, the plays chosen to perform on Saturday were The Dark, Winner, and I Love You St. Petersburg

Congratulations! If you want to see these plays again, then please keep a look out for Saturday’s schedule on our tickets page.  More Saturday finalists will be announced throughout the week, so please stay tuned for more updates. And, please check out our full schedule for our other Final 30 performances.

Thank you Miriam Weiner, Eleanor Burgess, and Chris Giordano for joining us last night. Making those choices couldn’t have been easy.

Also, thank you to last night’s playwrights! It’s an honor to have you as part of our OOB family, and we look forward to talking to you more throughout the week. All playwrights are invited to watch all the sessions this week and to join us for drinks at sideBAR afterwords.
