Summer is nearly upon us, which means it’s time to register for CityWrights Miami’s Profesional Weekend for Playwrights. 
 
Every year our close friends at CityWrights host workshops, panels, and sessions by playwrights and industry leaders. This year’s guests include Samuel French Playwright and OOB winner Steve Yockey, OOB alumni and Barrymore Award winner R. Eric Thomas, New Dramatists playwright Chisa Hutchinson, our Artistic Director Casey McLain, and many others. Guests will facilitate and engage in discussions based on this year’s central theme – art and politics; what is theatre’s role in politics and how can we create art in response to our political climate?
 
CityWrights is one of many programs offered by City Theatre that offers unique opportunities for playwrights to forge industry connections and expand their skill set. In addition to workshops and panels there are readings of new work by National Award for Short Playwriting Contest finalists and a performance of Summer Shorts.
