41st Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival Results

OOB’s success this year is owed to the hard work of so many people. This has been a week of celebrations and also a great many thank you’s. To our playwrights who not only created beautiful and smart work, but who were brave enough to share it; to the directors, actors, producers, and designers who poured so much of their time and resources to bring these short plays to life; to the stage managers and stage hands who make the entire production process run so smoothly; to the judges who were tasked with the difficult choice of choosing which plays advance, and did so with grace; to the Samuel French staff who volunteer so much of their time to make this festival possible every year; thank you all!

Yesterday we watched all twelve finalists present their work to be considered by Samuel French staff for publication and licensing. Those final twelve were France-Luce Benson’s Risen from the Dough,  Sunita Deshpande’s A Sari for Pallavi, Angela Santillo’s Welcome to the Fall, Gwynn Ballard’s The Duet, Jonathan Josephson’s Grandpa and the Gay Rabbi, Lindsey Kraft’s and Andrew Leeds’ Wedding Bash, Sharon Farrell’s Depths, Lizzie Vieh’s Monsoon Season, Seamus Sullivan’s Valkyrie in the Roller Disco, Lindsay Joy’s The Cleaners, Korde Arrington Tuttle’s Clarity, and Nicole Greevy’s, Uma Incrocci’s, and Erica Jensen’s 28 Years Later.

Every single play that has made it to this festival has been a joy to see. We could only choose six to be published and licensed by Samuel French, but we hope all of our Final 30 stay in touch.

Now, without further ado, our six OOB winners are,

Risen from the Dough by France-Luce Benson

Grandpa and the Gay Rabbi by Jonathan Josephson

Wedding Bash by Lindsey Kraft and Andrew Leeds

Monsoon Season by Lizzie Vieh

The Cleaners by Lindsay Joy

Clarity by Korde Arrington Tuttle

Congratulations! These six wonderful plays will be published in our 41st OOB Short Play Festival collection and will be available for licensing. These plays will also be performed one more time today at 1pm.

Once again thank you to everyone involved in the festival this year. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
